GCPS Bus Transportation

The Department of Transportation looks forward to working with parents and students to ensure safe ridership to and from our schools. Parents with questions regarding routing, schedules, or bus stops should call the student’s assigned school, the Transportation Department’s customer service department, or the Transportation Supervisor assigned to the student’s school.

Things to note:
  • Parents are responsible for the safety and supervision of their children from the time the children leave home in the morning until they board the bus, and at the end of the day from the time their children depart the bus until they arrive home. The care, supervision, and behavior of children at the bus stop (prior to loading in the morning, and after unloading from the school bus in the afternoon) is the parent's responsibility.
  • Ensure that your child arrives at the correct stop 5-10 minutes before the bus arrives.
  • Kindergarten students will be returned to the school if there is no adult present at the stop. Parents will be notified by phone when a student is being returned and will be responsible for picking up their student from the school front office.
  • Students, regardless of grade, who have an established adult presence at their stop but are hesitant to get off the bus if that adult is not present will be returned to the school. Parents will be notified by phone when a student is being returned and will be responsible for picking up their student from the school front office.
